THE PUBLIC SPEAKER’S WORKSHOP INTENSIVE
Train yourself and your entire team or Staff in one-day!

Description and Methodology: The PUBLIC SPEAKER’S WORKSHOP INTENSIVE is a world-class, innovative “hands-on” training tool to enhance every facet of the speaker’s competency, effectiveness and natural ability.

• The positive impact of great speaking reaches far beyond professional accountability, it literally transforms how you occur to others. One goes from being tolerated or humored to being admired and sought after. It is the number one comment I get from clients who are taking the plunge to effective public speaking and confident communication skills.

• There has never been a better time to reassess our public speaking skill-set. In today’s environment, top-notch public speaking and communication skills are keys to the moment at hand as well as keys to future performance and results.

• All executives and business professionals not only look good presenting; but also use it to move, inspire and touch people all around.

• Good speaking breeds loyalty, generates revenues, and strengthens your brand. People enroll and invest in YOU when you present in front of them. You become the gatekeeper of the product or ideas that you introduce. It is an enormous opportunity often missed through average speaking skills.

• Leadership qualities shine and emerge through self-expression and the confidence of what we say and when we say it. My truth as a coach is that we, as people, are wired for fulfillment NOT frustration.

Designed at three levels of proficiency, the public speaker’s workshop is a “must do” training for all serious individuals and companies who utilize any form of public speaking and presentations to market their products and PR their reputation. Company image, reputation, sales, motivation, and confidence can all be influenced greatly by fine speaking and presentation skills. A competent and confident speaker is a superb marketing tool and company resource.

The strength of any company is its people. Our methodology is based on coaching, training, empowerment, consulting and development skills, dynamic tools and distinctions. Our process is to unleash creativity and self-expression to free the natural confident communicator in all of us. Habit and lack of early training and support has us stuck in old patterns of suppressed expression. It affects daily results dramatically.

In any situation there is what we SAY, what we DO, what we FEEL and what we THINK. All these dimensions are governed by our perceptions and sense of ourselves. What this method does is expose the context from which we THINK, FEEL, SPEAK and ACT. A limited set of perceptions limits our realm of ACTION. By increasing our awareness, we gain access to a larger arena of interactions and begin acting with more confidence, power and freedom.

The Public Speaking Workshop

3 levels of participation...

  • Apprentice to artisan level. Ending the struggle. Basic to competent public speaking skills.
  • Artisan to artist level. Power up. From respectability to true competence.
  • Artist to Master level. From true competence to class-act.
    • Apprentice level: Ending the struggle. Beyond nervousness & stage fright. Basic to competent public speaking and public performance skills. Learning to “surf” the audience and deliver clear messages and communications.
Who participates: People who might have been or are still frightened by public appearances and presentations but are either currently doing it anyway or are called upon to present in the near future. There is a world beyond sweaty palms, the urge to flee, fainting or even preferring death to public appearance (as stats seem to tell us.) At this level, participants are truly educated about the actual nature of the public realm which, from what we can tell from experience, was never clearly distinguished for any of us growing up.

Intention and Promises: To train each and every individual to put stage fright behind and arm him or her with solid and lasting skills. The intention is to make public speaking a good experience which will remain so for the long run. Beyond basic principles which cannot be avoided, we’ve found that there’s a “ big ham” in all of us if you give him or her a chance to come out and play.

Main distinctions covered: The public realm and its dynamics. Development of public persona in action. Basic staging and freedom of movement. Carrying intentions: basic terminology. Leaving stage fright behind. Understanding and practice of basic actions on to an audience. Delivering a message to an audience. Basic credibility and confidence issues. Learning to breathe and “live” on stage. Self-control, Learning basic agenda delivery. Working with pauses as “best friend” to speaker. Assertiveness and taking charge: basic techniques. Showing up and controlling my impact on my audience. Making choices: basic methods. Working with slides. Audience acknowledgement. Introduction of participants. Practice of basic willingness to be seen, heard and communicate a message.

Prerequisite: A moderate to strong desire to conquer stage fright and a good motivation to learn solid skills. An understanding that acquiring a good technique is essential to personal or company image, reputation and objectives. A solid willingness to be coached and trained. Some experience welcomed. Must somehow be someone who already does a certain amount of presentations or is called upon to do them soon. Willing to have fun, grow and learn about themselves in public.

    • Artisan to artist level: Power up. From respectability to true competence.

Who participates: People who are already able to seasoned speakers. They have conquered basic trappings and public speaking to them is comfortable and in some cases enjoyable. This level is for people who have been speaking and presenting for a while and do regular appearances in various professional venues. Somehow they still feel something is missing from their performances, not always but they sense that there’s room to improve. Issues of style, personal power, engaging their audience, creating more vibrant presentations seem to be the usual objectives. There also may be issues of design and staging at the next level of proficiency and understanding. This level takes the leap into true competence and effectiveness. Choices and risk taking become the main arguments for climbing to the next level. The tools are designed around style, personality, power and relatedness to audiences or camera. The performer comes out but not every time and the willingness is still there to go further. There also might be issues of at-stakeness for the business the person is in. More business can be derived from better presentations and the time has come to set time aside to reach higher.

Intention and Promises: The intention of this level training to remove all doubts as to the effectiveness and expertise of the speaker. Credibility and personal power is taken to a much higher plateau. Review of basic to advanced dynamics. This is about taking chances and risking the “real” personality of the speaker.

Main distinctions covered: Motivating the audience, palette of styles, stronger design. The public realm and its dynamics are made one with the speaker. Development of public persona in action is explored as a creative act. Advanced staging and freedom of movement and direction. More personal involvement with audience and/or camera. Carrying clearer intentions: advanced terminology. Delivery of messages becomes a must. Higher credibility and confidence. Working with pauses as “best friend” to speaker more dramatically. Assertiveness and taking charge as an actor and performer. Taking charge is admired.

Prerequisite: A strong desire to conquer next level and owning a sense of what it might be. A solid willingness to be coached and trained a must. Must be someone who already presents and presents well. May be a bit rusty but nothing major. Willing to have fun, grow and learn about themselves still. Real need to reach next level of proficiency.

    • Artist to Master level.Leadership & Self-expression in action. From competence to class-act. Where the at-stakeness is true leadership in action.

Who participates: This is for individuals who have it in them to become truly masterful. They are influential personalities who have made public life a big part of their purpose. People who are already seasoned accomplished speakers. They have conquered most traps and genuinely like what they do in front of an audience and have a terrific sense of who they are. This level is for people who have been speaking and presenting for a while and do regular appearances in various professional venues. Confidence is not the issue but perhaps a desire to expand into other medias and cultivate different ideas. They prefer to do it in a safe professional setting where they can try things before taking it on the road. Somehow they still feel something is missing from their performances. Issues of style, personal power, engaging their audience, creating more vibrant presentations seem to be the usual objectives. There also may be issues of design and staging at the next level of proficiency and understanding. Sometime the difference between really good and great is not that big. Excellence is at stake at this level. It’s not about proving but being. Coaching at this level is highly creative and involves trust. Coach is more a director than a coach. There might still be a few facets of his or her talent, the speaker needs to hone or reveal. Participants at this level are about humble mastery. The coach is the witness to what the performer is learning. There’s real creative symbiosis.

Intention and Promises: The intention of this level training to consolidate for good the effectiveness and expertise of the speaker. From that moment on, anything is possible, perhaps a career as a speaker. Credibility and personal power transformed into total charismatic charm, whatever the intentions of the presentations are. The speaker, actor, performer is a true delight to watch in action.

Prerequisite: A strong desire to create the next level of proficiency and a willingness to make public speaking and communication skills an art. Must have a very solid foundation and extensive experience as a speaker and communicator.
